English Learner Self-Assessment (ELSSA)
The ELSSA is designed as a technical assistance tool for local educational agencies (LEAs) in analyzing and addressing program services as part of the process of preparing their LEA Plan Addendum. LEAs should address the attainment of academic standards for the English learner (EL) subgroup as well as their program to meet English-language proficiency objectives.
Specifically, the document includes information on the three major tasks involved in the improvement of the LEA plan:
- Identifying data and information on EL student performance and the implementation of the plan's elements that addresses EL students.
- Analyzing the available data and information to discern the strengths and weaknesses of the current LEA plan in terms of effectiveness with EL students.
- Formulating responses to address each element of the LEA Plan Addendum that needs improvement.
The LEA Plan Addendum Template should be used to format areas of the plan that need revision or additions.
